Planning for a problematic patient at a community care site is critically important. So, what can you do? Here's a few key tips:✅ Safety preparations should be made prior to a patient’s arrival whenever there is a concern that a patient may act out during their visit. ✅ Staff should discuss safety concerns about a patient with their supervisor as far in advance as possible. ✅ The supervisor should collaborate with other key leadership and the security team (if applicable) to determine whether the patient may pose a risk to staff or others. ✅ Engage an external threat assessment professional to assess the potential risk posed by the patient when needed. ✅ Any time there is a concern for imminent violence, the police should be called immediately for assistance.➡ If a patient’s care has been terminated, they may be triggered by the event. A long-term safety plan should be established to prevent and mitigate future issues.🤩 This is just a little sample of the great content you'll find in my upcoming field manual, "Community Care Site Security". Coming this month!PS- What would you add to this list?♻ Repost if you found this useful!#healthcare #healthcaresecurity #communitycare #ambulatorycare #healthcareleaders #violenceprevention #riskmanagement

One of the great advantages of Together Housing Group is our flexible approach to working. Despite the rhetoric about needing to "get people back to the office", different people, with different personal needs, do different jobs differently from different places,. especially when each day is different. The best policies are flexible. It's not about lazy home working, or rolling in late. Some days out offices are crammed by 7.30am. Other days they stand almost empty. Some work tasks take all evening, some are done by 4pm. Some personal tasks take an hour or so out of a day, some can be fit in an evening because I don't have to commute for 4 hours of that day. This is a great example from another employer and a challenge to ask why more places don't take a more flexible approach.

Legacy Health, managing 6 hospitals and over 70 clinics in Northern Oregon/Southern Washington, ordered 250 NaloxKit carry pouches for their security teams. Due to increasing need in and around their buildings, they determined that officers needed to carry 2 doses of naloxone to respond to this ongoing crisis.Luke Heckathorn, Director of Safety & Security Services told us:"With today’s Fentanyl epidemic, having Naloxone close is essential and can mean the difference between life and death. Most often one dose is not enough. The NaloxKit Pouch allows each of my team members to carry two doses where most other pouches only allow one. This gives them another opportunity to help someone in our communities."Well done Legacy Health in taking this proactive stance to protect your patients, staff and communities. For information on storage and access solutions for naloxone, visit NaloxKit.com. #NaloxoneAccess #HarmReduction #OpioidCrisis #StopOpioidOverdose
