This round crochet rug is created using super chunky t-shirt yarn so it is super quick to work up. And the free crochet pattern will show you an easy technique for creating a perfect circle every time!
How to crochet a perfect circle
You would think that crocheting a perfect circle would be easy peasy! Not so as it turns out.
It took me quite a while to get the circular shape right – for some reason circular crochet turns into a hexagon after a certain number of rows! And the thickness of T-shirt yarn amplifies this problema lotI finally found a good method of keeping my circle circular – just move the increase to a different position on alternating rows.
Once I had figured this out making this rug is simple – just work Single Crochet stitches in the round until your desired size is reached.

Finished Measurements
Approx. 40” in diameter
Gauge
3 rounds = approx. 4” in diameter
(T-shirt yarn varies so much inthickness, if yours is a little thinner than mine your gauge will be slightly differentbut it is not at all critical to this pattern to match my gauge)
Materials
Hook: 10mm (N/15) – 12mm (O/17) depending on the thickness of your T-shirt yarn (see Notes)
Yarn: 1 full skein of Hoooked Zpagetti (131 yds/120m per 850g skein) or other T-shirt yarn
I used two partial skeins of Mint Green (Color 1) and Baby Pink (Color 2)

Notes
T-Shirt Yarn
T-Shirt Yarn can vary alot in thickness dependingon the source fabric that was used to create it.
If your yarn is very thick (like mine) you willprobably need to use a 12mm hook. However, if it is a bit thinner, a 10mm hookmight be necessary to achieve tight stitches and a firm rug.
Construction
Thisrug is crocheted in the round. At the end of each round, do not join to the startof the round with a sl st, simply continue working the next round in a spiral.
Usea stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round.
The stitch count for each round is given in [] at the end of the round
Increasing
Therug increases by 6 sts every round. An increase is done by crocheting 2 scs inthe same st, and we space these increases evenly over the round.
AfterRound 9, we move the position of the increases to ensure we end up with aperfect circle shape (and not a hexagon!). This is all fully outlined in the patternbelow.
Colors
This rug is so easily customised – feel free to usecombination of colors and stripes that you like. When changing color, make thechange on the last yarn over of the last st of the round, ready to start yournext round with the new color.

If you wish to make the rug larger at this point,simply continue repeating the pattern, adding an extra sc in between increaseson each round.
Cut yarn and fasten off, you can join to the startof the final round using either a sl st or invisible join.
